‘Bundang weapon riot’ victim, woman in her 60s, died

One of the victims of the ‘Bundang weapon riot’ that occurred on the 3rd died today (6th), the fourth day after the incident.

According to the Gyeonggi Southern안전놀이터 Police Agency’s weapon riot investigation team, a woman in her 60s who was in a state of brain death after being hit by a morning car driven by suspect Choi (22) at the time of the incident, died at around 2 am today.

Mr. Choi drove the car and rushed to the sidewalk right before he went on a rampage with a weapon, and ran into Mr. A and others.

With the death of Mr. A, the police changed Choi’s charge from ‘attempted murder’ to ‘murder, etc.’

On the 3rd, at 5:59 pm, Choi brandished her weapon at the citizens on the 1st and 2nd floors of the AK Plaza department store in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Nine people were injured, eight of them in critical condition.

Prior to this, Choi’s vehicle, which had rushed into the sidewalk, was hit by five people, killing one and injuring four others. Three out of four are seriously injured.

Choi was arrested yesterday on charges including attempted murder.
