MLB’s ‘ceremony of covering ears and raising fists’…Controversy over Trump’s support

A home run ceremony reminiscent of the shooting of former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has been controversial in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB). 유흥알바

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Alec Burleson hit a superior solo home run in the top of the third inning with a 1-0 lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the 22nd (Korea time), and then went around the third base to hold up his right hand toward the stands and cover his ears with his left hand.

It reminded me of former President Trump who raised his fist after being hit in the ear by a bullet during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on the 14th and shouted, “Let’s fight! Let’s fight!”

This is not the only one.
In the top of the fourth inning with a 2-1 lead, St. Louis outfielder Las Nutba hit a solo home run in the middle of the month, bent around the ground, wrapped his ears with his left hand, and held a ceremony to raise his right hand.

Some teammates in the dugout also followed the ceremony.

Some netizens criticized St. Louis players for celebrating in Pennsylvania, where the shooting took place, in support of former President Trump.

The St. Louis club has denied the controversy.

According to CNN’s report on the 23rd, the St. Louis club explained, “Burleson was a DJ in college and did a ceremony related to this,” adding, “The players have been doing DJ ceremonies since the beginning of this season.”

St. Louis veteran hitter Matt Carpenter also denied in a media interview that “it is far from political action” and that “our team did not take any kind of political action.”

The ceremony reminiscent of former President Trump also came in a game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in New York on the 22nd.

Tampa Bay infielder Taylor Walls lifted his right fist and shouted, “Fight! Fight!” after hitting a right-handed double in the top of the fifth inning.

CNN said, “I asked Walls about the meaning of the ceremony through the Tampa Bay club, but I didn’t get an answer,” adding, “Coach Kevin Cash only said, ‘I’m glad he hit a double.”
