At around 2:00 am today, hydrochloric acid leaked near the Gwangsan Interchange on the Suncheon-Wanju Expressway in Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
Some of the hydrochloric acid leaked from the 25-ton tank lorry that was carrying 23 tons of hydrochloric acid.
A driver in his 40s saw smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle and reported it to the police. No casualties have been reported so far.
The police and fire authorities are working on moving the leaked hydrochloric acid to a replacement vehicle, and as soon as the roads are cleared, they plan to determine the amount of hydrochloric acid leaked and the exact cause of the accident.
At around 11:30 last night, an 8,000-ton ship was preparing to depart from a pier in Jungheung-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do. was on fire.
Thousands of tons of coal are loaded inside the ship, and firefighters are working to extinguish the fire after catching a big fire in four hours.
The fire department plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire, assuming that the fire started on an internal conveyor belt that transported coal.
