Samsung’s Avant-Naba Selection Card Returns to Failure, ‘I Expect You to Do Well’

Seoul Samsung’s Avan Nava (25, 183 centimeters) selection card failed.

All 10 KBL teams have Asian quarters in the Philippines this season. Lee Sun-bano (DB) is playing MVP-class, while Sam Josef Belangel (Gasco) has become a core player of the team by showing more sincerity. Lens Abando (Director of Political Affairs) and Justin Gutang (LG), who left the team due to injury, and Miguel Andre Okzon (Hyundai Mobis), who joined the team last, are also indispensable resources.

However, other teams have not enjoyed the Asian quarter in the Philippines. The same applies to Samsung. It recruited Nava ahead of this season. He spent his college years in Canada, and his offense was evaluated as his strength. Korean player Debs was expected to give strength to the team ahead of Samsung, which is weak.

Since the opening of the season, however, Nava has displayed below-expectations performance. He played an average of 13 minutes and 15 seconds in 30 regular league games, posting 4.4 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. Only three games have scored double-digit points. He has failed to display his strong attack strength. With the success rate of field goals at 39.7 percent, he is also inferior in terms of efficiency.

The 2023-2024 Jung Kwan-jang Professional Basketball Competition between Samsung and Wonju DB took place at Jamsil Gymnasium on Thursday for the fifth time this season. Currently, Samsung, which has lost nine consecutive games, presented Nava as a surprise starter. It is the first time in 52 days since the DB match on Dec. 8 last year and the first time that Nava has been on the starting lineup since acting coach Kim Hyo-beom took the helm. 월카지노

Before the match, acting coach Kim Hyo-beom said, “Nava will be the starting pitcher today (May 30). No matter who plays, it is difficult to select a player with better performance including training. Defending and box-out are essential, and I hope they throw more shots. I told them to watch more shots than breakthrough because they can defend themselves from a distance. I think they are putting pressure on me, but I expect them to do well because it is an opportunity.”

However, Nava did not meet the expectations of acting coach Kim Hyo-beom. Four field throws missed the rim, as he threw three three three-point shots during the first quarter at 7:18 a.m. in defense, failing to block Lee Sun-bano’s breakthrough, he gave up runs in succession.

Nava constantly played in the second, third and fourth quarters, but failed to score a goal. At 18 minutes and 23 seconds, she had no goal, one rebound and one assist. She failed to make even one out of five field throws including five three-point shots. She was given a chance after a long time, but suffered a slump, and had to wait and see Samsung lose 73-108.

On this day, Kim Si-rae, one of the main members of Samsung’s front line, left due to an injury in the foot. On top of that, the Nava surprise selection card failed. While there was no choice but to leave a gap before, acting coach Kim Hyo-beom’s worries deepened.
