On the 29th, while the ‘Citizens’ Memorial Rally for the 1st Anniversary of the토스카지노 Itaewon Disaster Victims’ was held at Seoul Plaza, Innovation Committee Chairman In Yo-han received loud boos and protests from the attendees of the memorial event. During this process, some excited attendees even pushed Chairman In, causing physical conflict.

At around 4:50 p.m. on this day, Chairman In visited the memorial event hosted by the October 29 Itaewon Disaster Victims’ Families Council and the Citizens’ Countermeasures Council along with Innovation Committee members Kim Kyung-jin, Park So-yeon, and Lee So-hee. It was reported that on this day, Chairman In visited the event venue in his personal capacity, not as a member of the People Power Party leadership.

Chairman In, dressed in a black suit and black tie, with a dark expression, laid flowers and prayed in silence at the memorial altar set up for the victims in Seoul Plaza. He watched the memorial event for about 1 hour and 30 minutes until the first part of the memorial competition ended.

As Chairman In left after finishing the first part of the memorial event, some of the attendees of the memorial event shouted and booed Chairman In. It was mainly a criticism of the People Power Party and the Yoon Seok-yeol government, rather than insults directed at Chairman In personally.

Some attendees shouted, “The People Power Party and President Yoon Seok-yeol should apologize,” and “Impeach Lee Sang-min first.” Some approached Chairman In and hurled insults and criticism, such as “Where are you coming from?”, “Why are you helping the People Power Party?”, and “Get out of here.” Another attendee also asked the departing Chairman In, “Don’t go and watch the event until the end.”

Chairman In did not respond in any way to the fierce resistance of citizens. However, a situation occurred when a man pushed Chairman In hard on the shoulder, causing Chairman In to stumble. Some attendees protested by following Chairman In to the end, despite opposition from those around him, and Chairman In eventually managed to leave the venue by car around 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the People Power Party on this day included Secretary General Lee Man-hee, Policy Committee Chairman Yoo Yu-dong, and Supreme Council members Kim Byeong-min and Kim Ye-ji, who attended in their individual capacity. Former representative Lee Jun-seok and former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min also attended the event.

President Yoon Seok-yeol, leadership including People Power Party leader Kim Ki-hyun and floor leader Yoon Jae-ok, and presidential staff did not participate in the event. Instead, a memorial service was held this morning at Yeongam Church in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul to commemorate the first anniversary of the victims of the Itaewon disaster.
