Feddy’s Magu, which swept Korea, is not working in MLB, but the sweeper hit rate soared to around 40 percent

The sweeper, Eric Peddy’s strongest weapon that swept the KBO League, is not working at all in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB).

Peddy started the game against the MLB Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio on the 11th (Korea time) and recorded four hits (three homers), three walks, three strikeouts and five runs (four earned runs) in five innings.

Peddy, who allowed three home runs, stepped down without losing or losing and postponed his first win in the big league.

He pitched well until the third inning with one hit and one walk, but allowed pursuit after being hit by brothers Josh and Bo Naylor. They were hit by 146 km/h cutter and 150 km/h sinker, respectively.

He allowed a one-run homer through a 133 kilometer-per-hour sweeper that he threw to Steve Kwan in the fifth inning without a runner. He has five homers in this season, and three of them were hit by sweeper.

Peddy entered the KBO League last year as a member of the NC Dinos. He is an active MLB player who pitched in 102 big league games for the Washington Nationals from 2017 to 2022.

Peddy dominated the KBO league by achieving the Triple Crown (multiple wins, ERA, strikeouts No. 1) with a 20-6 loss and a 2.00 ERA on the Korean stage.

His representative weapon was the sweeper. He took advantage of the sweeper, who had just appeared in the MLB, and was on a roll on the Korean stage. He swung and missed like a horse.

Using this performance as a stepping stone, Peddy signed a two-year contract with the White Sox in December last year for a total of $15 million (about 20.5 billion won) and re-entered the big league 퀸알바.

However, it seems that Fedy’s sweeper, which used to be effective in the Korean league, is not showing any effect at all in the MLB. His batting average is as high as 0.400 (four hits in 10 times at bat). Swiper, who has 28.3 percent of batting average, the second highest after sinker (39 percent of batting average), is struggling after getting hit. In the KBO league, Fedy’s batting average for sweeper (based on Sports Two I, classification of curves) was 0.184, and his batting average was 33.0 percent.

He was also attacked by a sweeper in a return match between the Detroit Tigers and the MLB on Tuesday. In a full count match with Kerry Carpenter in the fourth inning when his team was leading 1-0, a 131km/h sweeper pitched high for the sixth pitch, allowing a tiebreaking solo home run. In the fifth inning, he was hit by a sweeper (135km/h) from the leadoff hitter (Jake Rogers), and lost a come-from-behind home run. This time, the sweeper rushed to the center.

The sweeper batting average, which was 0.272 in the KBO League, soared to 1.065 in MLB.

He has a 4.30 ERA in three appearances this season without losing or losing. Only when Fedy’s sweeper power is revived can he show more competitiveness in the big leagues.
