Park Jung-ah attended the Media Day held at the National Athletes’ Village in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do on the 16th and talked about her determination to prepare for the 2023 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Nations League (VNL).

The national team is aiming for a rebound in the Nations League, which starts in Turkiye on the 30th of this month. He is in a situation where he has to make up for the humiliation of losing all 12 games last year and being eliminated early in the first round of the World Championship. The atmosphere that was greatly shaken after Kim Yeon-kyung’s retirement from the national team must be changed somehow.

Park Jung-ah, the captain, said, “Last year, we were lacking throughout the air and defense. Many players came to the national team for the first time. “Volleyball was very difficult,” he said. It would be nice to do well from the beginning, but now it’s the process of building a body. We are talking a lot about showing him getting better.”

Currently, coach Cesar Hernández González, who is the head coach of the national team, is working as the coach of Vakifbank in Turkiye. For this reason, coach Yumi Han oversees the training and leads the team. Park Jung-ah said, “I can’t face to face, but I contact you personally every day. Through her coach, she communicates and trains. Coach Han Yu-mi and advisor Kim Yeon-kyung are well informed. There are other coaches too. I prepare according to the training schedule, so there is no big difficulty.”

Next, Park Jung-ah said of Kim Yeon-kyung, who joined as an advisor and added strength, “On the day my sister comes to the athlete village, she hits the ball and trains together. She also has a lot of information about players she doesn’t know, so she talks about the course she hits. She’s getting a lot of help from the players,” she revealed.

Starting with the VNL this year, the national team will continue to digest big competitions such as the Asian Championships, Olympic Preliminaries, and Asian Games. Park Jung-ah said, “All competitions are important, but I think the Olympic qualifiers and the Asian Games are especially important.” “These competitions are at the last minute. At that time, I hope that even if we just make eye contact, our breathing will be at the right level. I showed a bad performance in the international competition last year, but I will continue to improve. I want to show a better image every day this year as well. I am working hard, so I ask for your support,” she said.
