New York wasn’t right for the KBO RBI leader… Rebellion in Minor Contracts? 37 years old ‘last challenge’

New York was not right. Back in San Francisco, I set out for the last challenge.

Darin Ruff (37, San Francisco Giants) built a successful career playing for the KBO Samsung Lions from 2017 to 2019. He had a career batting average of 0.313, 86 homers, 350 RBIs and 267 runs in 404 games over three years. He, in particular, with 124 runs batted in, even won the RBI kingpin in 2017.

After three years at Samsung, Ruff challenged the major leagues again in 2020, when he was 34 years old. I really thought it was the last. He signed a minor contract with San Francisco, and after puncturing the needle, entered the major leagues and became a big leaguer again 4 years after his days with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016. He even won a contract extension of up to $9.5 million for 2+1 years ahead of the 2022 season.

In 2020–2021, he batted .27, and in 2021 he hit 16 home runs. He started as a left-handed pitching specialist and even took on a significant role. However, he was traded to the New York Mets during the 2022 season. This, too, happened because the Mets, who wanted to win the World Series, needed a left-handed pitching specialist.

But Ruff had his worst days with the Mets. In 29 games, 10 hits in 66 at-bats, a batting average of 0.152, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He did not hit a single home run. He was eventually released ahead of the 2023 season. He recently confided to MLB.com that life in New York didn’t sit well with him. There was also a personal apostle who was said to be his father.

San Francisco reached out to Ruff again. Again, he signed a minor contract at the beginning of this month. However, Ruff recently gets a chance to play again in the major leagues. On the 20th (hereinafter Korean time), he started as the designated hitter 3 times in an away game against the Miami Marlins held at Londipo Park in Miami, Florida, USA, and recorded 1 hit, 1 RBI, and 1 walk in 2 at-bats.

After picking a walk in his first at-bat in the first inning, JD Davis was held in check at the plate. However, in the beginning of the 4th inning, he powerfully pulled a changeup that fell slightly out of the middle with a full count against Trevor Rodgers, a starting pitcher who was a hopeless first baseman. Second RBI after returning to San Francisco. In the 8th inning, he was replaced by pinch hitter Michael Conforto.

After his return안전놀이터, Ruff went 4-for-15 with a batting average of 0.267, 2 RBIs, 1 run point, and an OPS of 0.789 in 6 games after his return. Just like he did three years ago, he once again challenges the minor contract rebellion. He has good memories of playing against lefties back in San Francisco, so he could get a good shot.
