Choi Min-jung finished third behind Kim Hye-bin (3:29.983-Hwaseong City Hall) and Kim Ji-yu (3:30.090-Goyang City Hall) in the women’s general 1,500-meter final at the 2nd Prime Minister’s Cup National Men’s and Women’s Short Track Speed Skating Competition at the Goyang Eorimnuri Ice Maru Ice Rink in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, on Tuesday.

Choi, who won gold medals at the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, did not compete in the 2023-2024 national team trials to prepare for the 2026 Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics.

She replaced her skating boots, skate blades, and other equipment and has been working on new techniques.

It’s the first time she’s been away from the national team since 2014, when she made her senior national team debut.

On the same day, the women’s collegiate 1,500-meter final was won by national team member Seo Hwi-min (Korea University) with a time of 2:51.439.
