‘Why do you have to deal with us… ‘ Mets Cy Young Duo of 289.3 Billion Returns Against Parent Team DET

New York Mets Max Scherzer (39) and Justin Verlander (40) return against their former team, the Detroit Tigers.

American media SNY said on the 2nd (hereinafter Korean time), “As it rained for two days, the return of Scherzer, who was suspended for 10 games, was delayed. The Mets have organized the starting rotation, including Scherzer’s first game back and Verlander’s first appearance,” he said, revealing the Mets’ starting rotation plan.

In the double header against Atlanta, the Mets each started Denny Reyes in the first game and Tyler Megill in the second game. Joey Lucchesi, Scherzer, and Verlander will be starting pitchers in the three-game away game against Detroit, which will be held from the 3rd. In the home game against Colorado on the 6th, Kodai Senga will start.

Scherzer was ordered to leave the game against the Dodgers on the 20th of last month after failing to pass a foreign substance test during the game. According to the MLB rules, Scherzer was suspended for 10 games. Verlander has yet to make his debut for the Mets due to an injury.

Scherzer and Verlander are aces who need to play a role as one-two punches in the Mets’ starting lineup. Scherzer signed a three-year, $130 million contract last season, and Verlander signed a two-year, $86 million contract this season. The total contract size of the two pitchers amounts to 216 million dollars (approximately 289.3 billion won).안전놀이터

Coincidentally, both Scherzer and Verlander made their comeback in the game against their former team, Detroit. Scherzer made his big-league debut in Arizona in 2008, but reached his full potential in Detroit. He played 5 seasons from 2010 to 2014, recording 161 games (1013 innings), 82 wins, 35 losses, and an earned run average of 3.52. In 2013, he won the American League Cy Young Award. Verlander made his debut with Detroit in 2005 and went 183-114 with a 3.49 ERA in 380 games (2511 innings) over 13 seasons before being traded to Houston in 2017. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2011.

Scherzer and Verlander both performed well against Detroit. Scherzer recorded an average ERA of 1.23 with 2 wins and 1 loss in 3 games (22 innings), and Verlander recorded an ERA of 3.10 with 2 wins and 2 losses in 4 games (29 innings). Scherzer only started one game in 2019 at Detroit’s home stadium Comerica Park after the transfer, and Verlander pitched one game each in 2018 and 2019. This is the first time that two pitchers have been starting pitchers for an away team at Comerica Park in back-to-back years.
