Hwang Seon-hong, coach of the Asian Games national team, still has work to do.
On the 14th, coach Hwang announced the final list of the national soccer team to participate in the ‘2023 Hangzhou Asian Games’. The final roster consisted of a total of 22 players, including 19 players by age and 3 wild cards.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Hangzhou토토사이트, China in September last year, but was postponed to September this year due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19). As a result, the age of participation in the tournament has also increased from under 23 (U-23) to under 24 (U-24).
The reason why attention is focused on the Hangzhou Asian Games is because of Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain). If you win a gold medal at the Asian Games, you will be exempted from military service. In the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Games, Son Heung-min (Tottenham) participated as a wild card and won a gold medal. Many fans hope that Lee Kang-in will also walk the same path as Son Heung-min.
Naturally, Lee Kang-in was included in the final list. Coach Hwang said, “I constantly communicated with the players. Lee Kang-in himself also had a strong will to participate in the Asian Games.”
However, there are still issues that need to be coordinated. Lee Kang-in recently transferred from Mallorca to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). As his team changes, he is in a situation where he has to discuss his selection again. Since the Asian Games are not compulsory selection competitions, permission from the club is required to participate in the competition.
Director Hwang said, “I have finished talking with Mallorca about the selection. Since then, I have been in a situation where I have to coordinate while transferring to PSG. We are hopeful that the negotiations will go well.” In other words, it has been included in the list, but the consultation process is still left.
The biggest challenge is the period between the call for an A-match and the start of the tournament. Hwang Seon-Hong-Ho is scheduled to convene the entire meeting on September 4th. From the 4th to the 12th, there is no problem joining because the mandatory selection is applied during the A match period. However, for six days from the 13th to the 19th, the start of the competition, it is not mandatory.
Coach Hwang explained the situation, “If the PSG club does not allow it, Lee Kang-in may have to return to his team on the 12th and rejoin the national team ahead of the tournament.”
In fact, the A-match period in September is the only period in which organizational power can be maximized. Even the national team is not happy that Lee Kang-in, who should play a key role in a situation where the sum must continue to be matched, returns to the team and joins.
Regarding how to utilize Lee Kang-in, director Hwang said, “Both Plan A and B are in the works. He’s a good player and he’s personally capable, but football is a team sport. It is important that all 22 players move in one direction. He is a wise player, so he will be fully aware of it, and we expect him to perform well.”
The best situation is to build a plan A with Lee Kang-in without any other problems. In order to establish a plan A and achieve the gold medal achievement, the remaining ‘problems of 6 days’ must be resolved.
